Jeanphilip comes back to us on March 27th with « Ivresse », an anthem to evasion, both danceable and unifying, which resumes the bold musical journey of the gentleman rocker. This first single highlights the artist’s independent attitude, placing his rock character and electro aesthetic at the forefront, reflecting echoes of the French Touch music.
« Ivresse » unfolds with striking snapshots that playfully winks to the daily influences of our social interactions, with a perkiness attitude that challenges the alienating psycho-pop followers. Far from the moralizing clichés, Jeanphilip prefers inspiring through the unifying riff of a proudly embraced rock.
The song’s contagious energy is in line with Dumas’s French-Canadian pop, the exuberant groove of -M- from France as well as LCD Soundsystem where musicians perform electro music.
Jeanphilip brought together a star-studded team: producer extraordinaire and multi-instrumentalist Paul Cargnello, Indie-pop futurist Jon Cohen (The Dears, Jon Cohen Experimental), blue-eyed soul songstress Jasmine Bleile (Ladies of the Canyons, Satellītes), classy bassman Cédric Martel (Hubert Lenoir, Men I trust), funky drummer P-E Beaudoin (Hubert Lenoir, Lou-Adrianne Cassidy).
The album « Vérandas » will be released later this year. It reflects a renewed artistic proposal and the extended playground of the artist who divides his life between Québec, Maine and Paris.
Jeanphilip has been a mainstay of the Québec and France indie-rock scenes as of 2005. His discography includes four albums, several EPs/singles. He has performed in about 250 concerts including nine tours in France. Lately, he has played in the Boston area and has also been invited in radio broadcasts in the USA. Although he’s been a completely independent artist in the past, he’s looking forward to enhancing his career and to step up to the commercial plate.
